Content Management System
3210 Consulting's SmartBee Content Management System (CMS) is an intuitive point-and-click system that provides non-technical site administrators with the ability to edit, update, and manage all content on a company or organization's website.
One of the key benefits of the SmartBee Content Management System is that the system is scalable and modular, providing clients the ability to add on to the system as their business needs grow.
Key Features:
-
Editing Existing Web Pages
The SmartBee CMS includes the "Page Publisher" module, which allows a site administrator to add to or edit existing pages within any section on the website. Content is updated via a very user-friendly text editor that allows the admin to format text (bold, italics, bullet points), add images, create tables, insert hyperlinks, and more. -
Adding Web Pages/Sections
If necessary, the administrator can even add new (or modify existing) navigational sections on the site. The administrator can use the Page Publisher to create a new section on the site with just a few clicks. The site's dynamic navigational system is then updated with the newly created section -
Specifying Item's Status (Hold/Live)
All edits and updates made to site content are "on hold" until an administrator clicks to make these changes live. "Hold" items are visible to other administrators who log into the site, but the general public cannot see them. A "hold/live" system like this one allows administrators to set up an process flow and approval system for new content items posted to the site; items can be posted but made visible only to administrators until approved, at which time they can be marked as "live" and seen by members and the general public. -
Section and Page Security
Administrators can restrict any given section or even page of the website for access only by a certain group or groups. For example, there might be a "Resources" section on the website to which only members have access. Via a point and click interface, the administrator assigns rights only to members for that section of the site. Any number of sections or individual pages of the site can be secured this way via this point and click interface. The administrator can further choose whether to hide this section altogether from other "non privileged" visitors, or simply display a message to these visitors upon clicking on a restricted section explaining that this section is restricted. -
Levels of Administrative Access
SmartBee-powered sites feature varying levels of administrative access, driven by the administrator's login. The levels of access include a "super user" level administrator, who has complete control over the website. That level of administrator can assign administrative rights to other administrators based on both section of the website to which those administrators have access, as well as by what these administrators can "do" once logged in.
A basic level administrator has read access only. An intermediate level administrator has read/edit access. And senior level administrators can read, edit, and post items to the live site. -
Document Library
Site administrators can also upload and manage documents via SmartBee, including Word documents, PDF files, and PowerPoint presentations. Administrators can manage all documents uploaded onto the site via one central location. This functionality allows administrators to upload a document once and display it in multiple locations on the website.
When an administrator uploads a document, he or she will be able to perform a "lookup" and then specify any page(s) on the site where a link to that document should be displayed. Further, administrators can then see the different sections on the site where a given document is being displayed. In this way he or she can get a snapshot view of where any uploaded document is being displayed on the site. He or she can remove or add sections where the document is being displayed at any time. -
News Manager
SmartBee's News Manager allows site administrators to manage and organize all news items on a website. An administrator can assign each news item a headline, date, author of article, source of article, a summary of the article, full text of the article, and/or link to read the full story if the article is hosted on an external, or outside website. If news items are in the form of a PDF, the administrator can upload the PDF to the website where users will see a link to that given document (plus all associated information about it including headline, date, author, etc). The News section also features a search tool that allows users to search news items by keyword. -
News Archive
After a specified period of time, news items will automatically move from the news section to the News Archive on the site. News items in the News Archive will be accessible to users via the search tool. -
Email to a Friend
The Email to a Friend functionality allows visitors to send a page of interest to a friend or colleague. On any page, the Email to a Friend icon will be displayed. Clicking on that icon will bring the visitor to a form requesting your email address, the recipient's email address, and an optional note. - Printer-Friendly Pages
SmartBee driven sites also allow users the option to click to view and print "printer-friendly" pages.
